Your ten-day, nine-night adventure includes transportation from Albuquerque’s Sunport International Airport to your hotel, lodging for nine nights, transportation during the tour on a rest room-equipped motor coach, admission fees to all scheduled attractions, breakfast each day, six lunches, and five dinners, as well as the support and services of your tour guide and representatives.
Day One - Arrival
Tour representatives will meet you upon arrival in Albuquerque and provide transportation to your hotel. Enjoy an orientation session with your tour guide before heading to bed. Dinner is on your own.
Day Two - Santa Fe and the Santo Domingo Pueblo
New Mexico’s 400 year-old capital city is just a hour north of Albuquerque. Downtown Santa Fe is Home to numerous galleries, museums, and restaurants. On the way you will visit the church at the Santo Domingo Pueblo.
Day Three - Albuquerque (Old Town)
Visit Old Town with Pueblo Indians. See a demonstration of Indian dancing at an Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and learn more at the Pueblo Museum.
Day Four - New Mexico Pueblos
Following the path of old U.S. Route 66 west, we visit the Laguna and Acoma Pueblos and tour Sky City. After lunch at the Sky City Cultural Center, the day’s journey concludes in Gallup, New Mexico.
Day Five - Canyon de Chelly
With a stop at the Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site, today’s journey takes us to the spiritual heart of the Navajo Nation - Canyon de Chelly National Monument. After touring the canyon in a customized jeep, we return to Gallup for the evening.
Day Six - Window Rock and St. Michael Indian School
Window Rock is a traditional meeting place and the community that bears its name is the capital of the modern-day Navajo Nation. Nearby, in St. Michaels, is St. Michael Indian School, founded by St. Katharine Drexel in 1902. This is the oldest continuously-operated school on the Navajo Reservation. Activities include demonstrations of traditional jewelry-making, weaving and a visit with a Navajo Medicine Woman.
Day Seven - Monument Valley In the northern reaches of the Navajo Reservation is a place called Monument Valley. Its unique landscapes became world-famous after serving as the backdrop for numerous Westerns. You will also visit some traditional Navajo dwellings and the Navajo Codetalkers exhibit. Leaving Monument Valley, the tour continues west to Tuba City for tonight’s lodging.
Day Eight - Grand Canyon
Today we will explore the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This majestic landmark is considered sacred to many of the cultures that have lived in and around it.
Day Nine - Hopiland
Proceeding east from Tuba City, we come to the Hopi Mesas. The Hopi live in villages atop the majestic mesas that define this region. We will visit Old Oraibi, the oldest Hopi village and meet with a traditional kachina artist. Tonight, we return to Albuquerque for a final night’s lodging prior to departure.
Day Ten - Departure
Hotel shuttles provide transportation to the airport.
